I didn't qualify for grants through FAFSA, so I had to be extremely pragmatic in my college selection. Every dollar mattered. If it weren't for Class Day and being awarded several scholarships - I don't know how I would have made ends meet. During my college career I received invaluable mentorship from professors and coaching from human resources leaders. I strongly believe the combination of sponsorship, mentorship and coaching led to my success and it's my mission to ensure we can give as many students that first step as possible.
In 2003, I graduated from Irvington High School. I had no clue what I wanted to do, what opportunities were in front of me, and just how far a girl from a low-income Title 1 school could go. I’m happy to say, that girl can go far – and through The DixonHR Foundation – we’re going to ensure that we hold the ladder for the next generation of human resources leaders to climb.
